WINS and Canada’s Weapons Threat Reduction Program are thrilled to announce that a new Contribution Agreement has commenced for the second phase of enhancing nuclear security competencies to support sustainable nuclear security, globally. This follows the first phase which was funded by Canada’s Weapons Threat Reduction Program from 2018-2020 under an earlier Contribution Agreement.
This marks Canada’s Weapons Threat Reduction Program’s 9th Contribution Agreement supporting WINS. This Contribution Agreement – which is in effect from 01 August 2021 to 31 July 2023 – supports capacity-building activities that enable both women and men to enhance their nuclear security knowledge and skills. It underscores both Canada’s Weapons Threat Reduction Program and WINS’ strong commitment to gender equality as it provides funding for a range of exciting projects to implement “gender parity by design” and to advance the representation of women in the nuclear security sector.
The scope of the Contribution Agreement includes the following:
– Scholarships for learners to complete the WINS Academy Programme in the area of Nuclear Security (CNSP) and radioactive source security (CRSP);
– Enhancement of cybersecurity competencies;
– Support in strengthening sustainable nuclear security learning services delivered by Nuclear Security Training and Support Centres;
– Support for gender equality in nuclear security.
