WINS is very pleased to welcome to its board of directors Dr. Joan B. Woodard, Executive Vice President Emeritus of Sandia National Laboratories. Dr. Woodard served for 36 years at the United States’ Sandia National Laboratories, including as its Chief Operating Officer. She has received numerous awards for her contributions to science and national security. She brings outstanding credentials and a vast knowledge in science and security to the WINS Board. William Tobey, Chair, said “We are very proud and pleased that Dr. Woodard is joining the WINS Board. With the substantial breadth and depth of her experience, Dr. Woodard will be a strong contributor to the Board and an invaluable addition to this organisation.”
Ms. Nancy Jo Nicholas, a founding member of the WINS board, retired from this position in December 2013. Nancy Jo, who is Director of Nuclear Nonproliferation and Security Programs at Los Alamos National Laboratory and also served as President of the Institute for Nuclear Materials Management from 2007-2008, brought deep technical expertise, sound judgment, and considerable energy to the WINS board. WINS is grateful for her service at a formative time in its history.
In March 2014, Dr. Hahm Chaibong, who joined the WINS Board in 2012, ended his term of office as WINS Board member. Dr. Hahm Chaibong is the Director of the Asan Institute for Policy Studies (AIPS) in Seoul, Korea, and proved instrumental in contributing to WINS activities in connection with the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit.
