The Institute of Nuclear Materials Management has awarded WINS Senior Project Manager Tomás Bieda the Roger Howsley Medal for Excellence in Nuclear Security.
Mr Bieda has been recognised for his skills, knowledge and leadership in implementing, organising and strengthening nuclear security measures prior to joining WINS. Before starting at WINS in 2021, he worked for the Office of International Nuclear Security of the US National Nuclear Security Administration. Previously he served as Director of Nuclear Security Policies and Nonproliferation and worked for the Nuclear Regulatory Authority in Argentina.
“Nuclear security is a global task,” Mr Bieda said in his acceptance speech. “We should tackle it together as an international community, engaging every stakeholder.”
The Roger Howsley Medal for Excellence in Nuclear Security is named for Dr Roger Howsley, the Co-Founder and former Executive Director of WINS. It recognises individuals or organisations who have made practical and sustained contributions to excellence in the security of nuclear and radiological materials.
