An international team visited Senegal between 12-17 May with the purpose of collecting perspectives and testimonies of successfully adopting alternative technology to radioactive sources used in radiation therapy. This work will support the creation of a video presenting the experience and lessons learned from various stakeholders in Senegal.
The team visited the Hospital Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Khadim Rassoul in Touba and the Hospital Dalal Jamm in Dakar. It was an opportunity to visit the radiotherapy departments of each hospital and meet the people involved in the treatment of cancer patients and the operations of the linear accelerators (LINACs). While in Dakar, the team also had the opportunity to meet with Carrefour Medical, one of the suppliers of the LINACs in operation in Senegal, and a representative from the Ministry of Health and the national regulatory authority of Senegal.
WINS would like to extend its gratitude to Dr. Magatte Diagne for her continuous support during the preparation and visit.
We invite our Members to stay tuned for the release of the video!
