WINS to Launch Revised Transport Module

WINS is launching a new edition of the Transport Security Management module in the coming weeks.

We have revised and updated the material to ensure it is in line with current best practice and developments in the industry. The new edition features expanded coverage of emergency preparedness and response as well as the underlying principles that support security management. We’ve also added a dedicated chapter on cybersecurity.

“Thanks to the support of industry specialists and subject matter experts in drafting and reviewing the material, we are confident this new edition provides our learners with the latest and most comprehensive information about the sector,” WINS Academy and Communications Manager Roland Fletcher said.

The international transport of nuclear material may be undertaken across multiple modes of transport (e.g. road, rail, air, inland waterway, sea), across national boundaries, require adherence to a number of national legal and regulatory frameworks, and involve numerous stakeholders, many of whom may change as the transport proceeds. Consequently, ensuring effective and secure transport of nuclear material requires careful planning, communication and coordination.

This module helps learners understand what is required to achieve this goal—whether they are arranging, carrying, receiving or protecting a shipment of nuclear material or if they are responsible for responding to a security incident that occurs during the transport of nuclear material.
