Last week, WINS teamed up with the Integrated Support Center for Nuclear Nonproliferation and Nuclear Security (Japan Atomic Energy Agency) for a two-day online workshop on supply chain risk in nuclear security. The workshop, which took place on 16-17 February, featured a fictitious story divided into four scenes. The play was followed by a discussion with contributions from subject matter experts and participants in the event.
The aim of the event was to shine light onto supply chain risk, which is a subject that is often overlooked in the field of nuclear security. Organisations should make it a priority to identify and address a vulnerability in the supply chain of a nuclear security system, otherwise they could potentially face long-lasting consequences.
“This event was an excellent way to highlight the relevancy of the supply chain in nuclear security and the importance of procuring and installing certified equipment that has not been subject to mismanagement. And the manner in which we were able to convey this sentiment to our audience – through a pre-recorded theater play and played online – was truly remarkable,” WINS’ Executive Director Lars van Dassen stated.
