In a recent trip to Indonesia ahead of the ASEAN Summit, Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced new funding to enhance security and strengthen Canada’s ties with the Indo-Pacific region. Mr Trudeau’s announcement came ahead of the ASEAN Summit.
As part of these efforts, Canada aims to reduce the threat of a nuclear or radiological security incident to populations in the Southeast Asian region. Mr Trudeau announced that in order to do this, Canada’s Weapons Threat Reduction Program is providing WINS with $2.6 million.
This project will help support sustainable nuclear security training in Thailand and within Southeast Asia in which WINS will conduct several events at both the national and regional levels to this end.
