The University of National and World Economy of Sofia, Bulgaria, is launching a Master’s programme in “Economics of Defense and Security” with specialisation in “Nuclear Security”. The programme’s structure is based on State’s requirements for a Master degree and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Nuclear Security Series No. 12.
The Economics of Defense and Security – Nuclear Security Master’s programme is the result of an agreement between the IAEA and the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) of Sofia, Bulgaria. IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano and UNWE signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of education and research for nuclear security during an official visit to Bulgaria from 30 June to 1 July 2014. The aim of the Master’s programme is to prepare highly qualified managerial personnel (middle management level) for the needs of the nuclear industry.
Duration, location and requirements
2 years (four semesters). The academic year starts in October. The programme will take place at the University of National and World Economy, Sofia, Bulgaria. As a prerequisite for this Master’s Programme in Nuclear Security, students should hold an academic degree (e.g. a Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent degree from an accredited university) and have the required knowledge of English.
