Earlier this month, WINS held a nuclear security culture workshop in Thailand. The workshop – held in conjunction with Thailand’s Office of Atoms for Peace and Global Affairs Canada – was intended to assist senior managers working in Thailand’s nuclear security sector to ensure the full implementation of the national nuclear security training strategy.
During the opening session of the workshop, WINS Executive Director Lars van Dassen said the following, “Nuclear security is only as strong as the robustness of the nuclear security culture throughout all levels of an organisation. It is our hope that this workshop sheds light on the significance of nuclear security culture as well as how to implement and sustain it within organisations responsible for the security of nuclear material. And this can only be done when there is agreement on a competency framework to train professionals in this area.”
This workshop is part of a larger project to support sustainable nuclear security training and competencies in Thailand as well as other countries in the ASEAN region.
