The third event in the 2015-2016 PONI Conference Series will be held December 9-10 at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC, United States.
The two-day conference will feature presentations from emerging nuclear experts covering topics including U.S. nuclear policy and posture in the face of modernization and sequestration, non-state actors, nuclear security, escalation dyanmics, and perspectives on Russia and Europe. The conference will also include keynote addresses by Tom Countryman, Assistant Secretary, Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation, Department of State, and Lt Gen Jack Weinstein, Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Deterrence & Nuclear Integration and feature a panel discussion on the health of the nuclear enterprise facilitated by Madelyn Creedon, Principal Deputy Administrator, National Nuclear Security Administration.
The PONI Conference Series, now in its twelfth year, offers an opportunity for rising experts in the field to present findings on their research in order to advance the broader discussion on nuclear weapons issues. It also seeks to provide a venue for interaction among individuals from different sectors and for mid-career and senior members of the community to mentor their junior counterparts.
