WINS is delighted to announce the prize winners selected from among the participants in our “Nuclear Security in 2020: Priorities, Achievements and Predictions” survey.
Three respondents were chosen randomly from the full survey data set and offered one of two prizes: either free enrolment in a WINS Academy professional development course, or an expenses-paid invitation to attend a WINS event in 2020.
Dr Hanan Saleh is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences, specialising in radiography physics. She does research in the areas of radiation, biophysics, and health and environmental physics. Dr Saleh was recently appointed as the Dean of Princess Aisha Bint Al Hussein College for Nursing and Health Sciences at Al Hussein Bin Talal University, Ma’an, Jordan. She received her PhD in Applied Radiation Physics from the University of Jordan in 2008. A WINS member, she has elected to attend an expenses-paid WINS event.
Dr Aye Aye Swe is Principal Scientist in the Division of Atomic Energy of the Department of Research and Innovation at Myanmar’s Ministry of Education. She earned her PhD in Nuclear Technology from Yangon Technological University in 2012. She has also completed master’s degrees in both Information Science and Engineering Physics at Mandalay University. A WINS Academy learner, she has already passed the Foundation Module and is enrolled in Nuclear Security for Scientists, Technicians and Engineers. She chose the WINS Academy scholarship prize.
Sergio Feria Fernandez is a Physical Security Coordinator working at Laguna Verde Nuclear Power Plant in Mexico. An electrical engineer, he is responsible for the design of the physical security system in conjunction with other departments such as electrical, civil and computer systems. He previously worked at an independent used fuel storage installation inside the Laguna Verde facility overseeing the construction of its physical security system. A WINS member, Mr Feria is enrolled in the WINS Academy course for Scientists, Technicians and Engineers. He opted for the WINS Academy scholarship prize.
WINS will release the results of the survey in February. Thank you to all the respondents who took the time to share their experience and opinions on nuclear security with the international community. We would also like to extend special thanks to WINS members, who made up 85% of the respondents, including WINS Academy Alumni, who contributed more than a fifth of responses to the survey.
