Helping licensees assess the maturity of their security programme and measure their security culture effectiveness.
To support and contribute to the efforts of the IAEA International Conference on Nuclear Security: Enhancing Global Efforts that was held on 1-5 July 2013 at the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria, WINS hosted “A Night at the Theatre with WINS” on the 2nd of July and invited conference participants to attend the show.
WINS showcased “Critical Thinking: Safety and Security are our Number One Priority” to demonstrate the impact and potential consequences a security event could have on a nuclear power plant, from the highest levels of government to the people on the frontline. For an innovative evening, the theatre was led by a professional facilitator who encouraged reflection and discussion around the given scenarios, and included an interactive ‘press conference’ where attendees could ask questions to the characters.
A special event report along with the programme is available in our Member’s Area.
The event was well received by over 100 attendees representing 19 countries, 4 international organisations and 2 non-profit organisations. NHK Broadcasting Company from Japan filmed the event and conducted post-show interviews with the attendees.
The overwhelmingly positive responses to the theatre was an indicator of not only the success of this particular WINS event, but also reinvigorated the profound need to address and meet the challenges organisations around the world must deal with in order to improve and enhance nuclear security worldwide.
WINS extend a special thanks to the Department of Energy and Climate Change, United Kingdom, for their co-operation and support.
