WINS published an article entitled Measuring the Impact of Nuclear Security Training: the Case of the WINS Academy and its Professional Society in the latest issue of the 1540 Compass.
In this article, we argue that all international nuclear security training efforts must lead to sustainable and measurable improvements in security to justify the time and expenditures. We believe that developing effective certification programmes supported by professional societies are a solution to this problem. Indeed, professional societies can be used as a forum in which to better assess the impact of training, support ongoing professional development, and build capacity for security managers.
The 1540 Compass is published by the Center for International Trade & Security, University of Georgia in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Disarmament and using contributions from Kazakhstan, the Republic of Korea, Norway, the United States and the European Union.
